Medical Ordinance No. 26 of 1927
The primary enabling legislation establishing the Sri Lanka Medical Council. Defines the composition, powers, and functions of the Council; the registration framework for medical and dental practitioners; qualification recognition; and the disciplinary jurisdiction of the Council.

Medical (Amendment) Act No. 28 of 1998
Significant amendment extending SLMC regulatory authority to cover allied health professionals. Introduced the framework for temporary registration of overseas-trained practitioners and updated disciplinary procedures to align with contemporary standards.
